First Game

Joel had his firt game of the season last night. Here are a few pictures. (Jon usually takes the photos, but this year he's the assistant coach...I didn't do so well with a baby on one hip and a camera in the other hand...sorry)

Joel up to bat, this is his first year in kid's pitch.

Standing on 1st (Coach Jon in the shorts)

Joel was catcher for 2 innings, he made my knees hurt just watching. (not sure why the picture is so dark)

Joel and his buddy Nate. Both very exicted to win their first game!

Birthday Party

Today Aliya and I traveled up to Ashland for my niece's 3rd birthday party. It was so good to see Aveline and Scarlett, I had not seen them since October of last year. Aliya enjoyed meeting her cousins and Aunt Kristy for the fist time.

The first part of this video is Aveline hugging Aliya. Every time she'd get close to Aliya, Aliya would scream with delight!! I'm so glad we finally got them together! The second part of the video is everyone singing to Aveline, blowing out her candles, then her announcing to the group that it's her birthday!

I will post some pictures tomorrow, it's getting late and I need to get to bed!

Joel helps Aliya get ready for bed

Joel was playing his webkinz tonight while Aliya was in the tub. After I had gotten her all washed up and was letting her play Joel joined us in the bathroom. He is so good with her! He played peek-a-boo with the washcloth and grabbed her piggies. She screams with delight! She loves her big brother so much! (in fact, she has a hard time eating when he's around, she watches his every move and is easily distracted by him!). After her bath was over Joel helped me wrap her in her towel and he carried her to her room. He picked out her PJ's and watched while I got her dressed. He asked if he could feed her, and after a nod from me, he ran downstairs to make her bottle. After she was all dressed and oiled up he sat with her in her room and fed her. It took FOREVER for her to eat because she kept stopping and smiling at him. He got the biggest kick out of it! Then he said that she passed gas on his lap, he didn't mind. All he said was, "Yep, she's a Bergstrom!".

Two happy kids!

After Aliya was finished eating she let out one HUGE burp and went to bed. Joel stood and watched her until she fell asleep! Could a mommy get any more blessed?!?

Dessert with Grandma & Grandpa H

Friday night after dinner we headed over to my grandma and grandpa's for dessert!! Yummy cake and fresh strawberries, but even better than the homemade desserts was spending time together with family! It seems like forever since Joel had seen them and they needed their great-grand kid fix!

Fun time with Aunt Martha

Last night Martha came in from out of town to spend some time with us. We are so thankful for Martha, not only has she been my best friend since collage, but she was here the night Aliya came home to us. She and our little one have a special bond. Come back soon Martha!!!!

Do you think Martha and I look alike??

Smiles for the camera

Eating wore her out!

Such a happy baby!

Special Delivery

I took a half day at work today, and I'm so glad I did!!! Just as I was putting Aliya down for a nap the doorbell rang and I had two packages waiting for me at the front door. A dozen BEAUTIFUL roses from my bestest friend, Martha and a perfect handmade blanket from my Aunt Ann (Aliy'a Great Aunt)...the roses were for me, the blanket for Aliya. Thanks Martha and Aunt Ann!

Fun times with Grandma & Grandpa

My folks stopped by this evening to see Aliya. Kris brought a bag of clothes that used to belong to my little sister and a dress my grandma made for me when I was little! I can't wait for Aliya to be big enough to wear it! I think I was three when I had my picture taken in the dress, so we've got some time!

Proud Grandma and Grandpa (note the little face in the window behind them)

What is this thing? Scrappy has one too!

Tummy Time and Cereal

One morning we walked into Aliay's room and there were these two little eyes peeping over the top of the crib (the side that was lowered). She was up on her arms all on her own. She loves tummy time with Aunt Leah Ann (my sister in law who watches her during the day), Leah Ann says she'll stay up for up to an hour like that, as long as she's down on the floor playing with her! I get her to do it for about 5 minutes, then she realizes she's already done it for the day and she's done. She is such a happy baby!

We tried cereal for the first time yesterday. She kind of likes it. She spits more than she eat right now, it's hard not to laugh! We set up her high chair today (thanks Josh and Laura) and Joel fed her. It was nice to have our whole family around the table for dinner tonight!

Doctor visit today

Aliya had a doctor’s appointment today. 4 shots and a round to Tylenol later we were out the door. She smiled and laughed for the nurse as she got weighted and didn’t make a sound for the doctor as he checked her over. But when the nurse came in with the shots, it was all over! She was smiling as we took her bottoms off, then she started to get that look in her eyes when the alcohol swab ran over her little leg then WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA when the first needle went in. I started crying too... I warned the nurse that I would do that, she teared up as she did the second shot and by the 4th we were all crying! The tears lasted about 5 minutes after the shots were over, then the Tylenol kicked in! You would have though she was high! It was kind of funny actually (not that my baby was in pain, but the the look on her face while she tried so desperately to keep her eyes open.) I’m a bit confused on her percentiles. Aliya is 15 weeks and 5 days old. So if we calculate her as a 3 month old she’s right on, but if we calculate her as a 4 month old, she little. Oh well, she’s healthy that’s all that matters!!!

She is now: 23 3/4" long, weighs 13 3/4 and her head is 15". (If you calculate her at 3 months she is 47% for length, 70% for height and less than 3% for head) (if you calculate her at 4 months old she is 18% in length, 40% in weight and less than 3% for head) Our doctor doesn’t talk to us about percentiles, he said that it gives mom’s a complex. So we get the info on her stats and look it up on line.

She’s sleeping right now!!! Oh, I almost forgot, for 3 days in a row now she’s slept from 9p-6a!!!! Way to go Aliya!
